1. Who we are
Platform Development ("we", "us", "our") is a web, social media and content studio based in London, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at hello@platformdevelopment.co.uk.
2. What data we collect
- Enquiry details you provide via our contact form — your name, email address, the services you're interested in, your budget range and your message.
- Mailing-list details — your email address if you sign up for our newsletter or request our free guide.
- Client portal account details — your email address, username, name, business name, plan status and project updates. Passwords are handled by Supabase Auth and are never stored in our public profiles or lead-submissions tables.
- Communications — the content of emails, WhatsApp messages or calls you have with us.
- Business-development contact data — a business contact's name, role, public business email or phone number, business location, company status, website or public social-profile details, relevant service observations, contact history and marketing preferences.
- Technical data — basic, non-identifying information such as approximate location, device and browser type, collected by our hosting and any analytics we enable.
3. How we use your data
- To respond to your enquiry and provide a quote.
- To deliver the resources or newsletters you've asked for.
- To provide and improve our services to clients.
- To operate the client portal, authenticate users and show project/account information to the correct client.
- To send occasional newsletters or promotional emails where you've opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time.
- To identify relevant incorporated businesses and send limited, proportionate, one-to-one business introductions about services that may reasonably interest them. We do not use this route to email sole traders or ordinary partnerships unless we have consent or another valid route under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
4. Lawful bases
Depending on the purpose, we rely on: your consent (for our mailing list and electronic marketing where consent is required); contract (to take steps at your request and deliver client services); legal obligations; and legitimate interests (to respond to enquiries, operate and protect our business, and carry out carefully targeted business-to-business development).
For business development involving personal data, our legitimate interest is growing Platform Development by introducing genuinely relevant services to incorporated businesses. Before using this basis, we assess the purpose, necessity and impact on the contact. We limit the data and contact frequency, use public business sources, avoid sensitive data and tracking pixels, provide an easy opt-out, and stop direct marketing immediately if someone objects.
5. Where business-contact data comes from
We may obtain business-contact information from a company's own website, Companies House, public business social-media profiles, public business directories and other public professional sources. We may combine those details with our own limited observations about a business's public website or social presence so that an introduction is relevant rather than generic. We do not currently buy cold-marketing lists.
If we contact you using information obtained from a public source, we will make you aware of this policy in that first communication. You can object at any time by replying to the message or emailing hello@platformdevelopment.co.uk.
6. Sharing & processors
We don't sell your data. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run our business, including:
- Cloudflare — website hosting and security.
- Supabase — client portal authentication, secure profile storage and project-tracker data.
- Formspree (or similar) — to deliver contact-form submissions to our inbox.
- Google — email (Google Workspace) and, where enabled, privacy-friendly analytics.
These providers process data under their own terms and appropriate safeguards.
7. Cookies & analytics
Our site uses minimal cookies. We use local browser storage only to remember small preferences (for example, that you've dismissed a pop-up). If we enable analytics, we configure it to respect your privacy and avoid collecting unnecessary personal data.
8. Data retention
We keep enquiry and client data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law (for example, tax records). Business-development records are reviewed for accuracy and necessity within 12 months. If there is no engagement after a limited introduction and follow-up, we stop active contact and remove or anonymise information that is no longer needed.
If you opt out or object, we keep only the minimum information needed on a suppression list so that we can honour your preference and avoid contacting you again. We do not use suppression-list information for any other purpose.
9. Your rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. Your right to object to the use of personal data for direct marketing is absolute: if you object, we will stop using it for that purpose. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@platformdevelopment.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls on the tools we use, and database rules that limit portal users to their own profile and project information. Passwords are processed by Supabase Auth; we do not store plaintext passwords, and we do not put server-only keys in public website files. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows the latest version.
